LG’s W53 is an extremely versatile screen that’s packed with features to help improve the experience and for the most part these are effective, easy to use and easy to configure. Despite some issues with colour reproduction there’s little to criticise in terms of performance and those looking to enjoy a mix of web browsing, games and video will find it to be very well equipped. The 23-inch version on test (the only model available in the UK, though rumour has it a 27-inch model will hit our shores later in the year) features a tidy enough piano-black design with a tilt stand and connectivity that includes HDMI, DVI-D and D-Sub. It’s a Full HD screen so is capable of 1080p resolution (1920 x 1080) at 16:9 aspect and offers a range of touch-sensitive controls to access the plethora of optimisation features available.

Hello Everybody

I am not very sure if you already know about this method – but for all those who are unaware of this, here it goes. PDFs (Portable Document Format) documents can be easily encrypted/password protected so that any un-authorized user cannot view or edit the PDFs content. The secured PDF document can also have DRM restrictions embedded right into the PDF document to provide further restrictions on the user from copying, changing / editing or printing the PDF file.

To remove all the DRM restrictions or the password of the protected PDF document you will need to just forward the PDF file as an attachment to your Gmail account and then simply open them in HTML mode from within your Gmail Inbox – now isn’t that so very simple to remove the PDF restrictions and password protection.

I have previously written macros to remove password protection from excel files but never this easy to remove a password protection. But you have a few trade-offs in that the formatting of the PDF file is lost to a great extend but you get all the content that’s inside.

I just bought a Manfrotto 24' stand so that I can shoot some unusual angles for my clients. The idea was to tether my camera to my laptop and control it with the EOS utility. That works just great (I'm also thinking of buying a remote control pan/tilt head to compose images remotely).

However, I'm terrified to put my 5D Mk II at the top of that pole. I ran it up about 15 feet tonight and just about freaked out thinking about it swaying around up there, held on only by a 1/4 inch screw.

Also, it's heavy at 30 ounces (without lens).

So, I'm thinking about buying a 450D (XSi), which is:

1. Smaller
2. Lighter (18 oz)
3. Much, much cheaper

to put up there. If it takes a dive, I'll probably mourn the lens more than the camera. My question is simple: Does the EOS utility work the same way for the XSi as it does for the 5D II (camera-specific functions aside)?

Live view works, so I can see what the camera sees?
Autofocus works so I can focus from the ground?
I can select my focus point remotely?

Exposure controls work so I can change the shutter speed, aperture and ISO remotely?
I can save images either to the card or the laptop?

Thanks!

550D - Kit Lenses - Do they Suck?

Hi . . . I'm Eric. I'm totally new to the world of DSLRs. I've owned three G-series cameras (G7, G9, and now G11) but I'm ready to upgrade. Why? I guess I'm finally ready because even though the G11 was highly touted for its low-light performance, I'm still not impressed. It's a good camera; don't get me wrong. It's just not producing images (or video) at a quality that's acceptable to my eyes. It's great with macro photography, portraits, etc. but low light? Crap. Video? Crap.

So, I'm thinking about the 550D. I love its video capabilities (even without the AF which seems to be a deal-breaker for many) and I think the still image quality will be heads and shoulders above what I'm used to (even though many seem to be critical of Canon's sample images). I guess my eye isn't trained that well; those images look phenomenal to me.

Anyway, to the question.

I'm leaning toward buying the 18-55mm kit lens with this camera. But is it worth it? Will I be disappointed with that lens? I've heard so many people say, "It's not really the camera body, it's the glass." If that's true, how can a $100 kit lens possibly complement the 550D?

My primary shooting will be of my children. My daughter's 18 months old and my next one's on the way. My backyard is full of cedar trees and that makes for a typically low-light situation. My G11 cannot seem to catch action consistently in the back yard. It's too dim, the shutter lag is too long . . . you all know the problems trying to catch action with a digicam.

I also travel quite often. I love taking pictures of birds from my hotel room overlooking the ocean. I love taking my camera out fishing and photographing boats, islands, sunsets . . .

I enjoy macro photography as well.

But my primary use will be taking pictures and videos of my daughter (and soon to arrive child). I want to be able to catch action. I'm tired of missing that "moment" that's gone in the blink of an eye.

I don't have tons of $$ to invest in a camera / lens right now so can't afford "all" the lenses I would need to meet all my needs.

So to recap, I would like to know (from all you professionals and "real" photographers out there) what the best overall lens would be for my new 550D? My primary interest is in photographing my children. Video is as important to me as photography. I do enjoy telephoto shooting as I travel often and love wildlife. Quality is important. Please include the model, price and reasons why you think that lens is the best.

Please don't respond with, "It's your opinion. You're the owner. You must decide," etc. etc. I realize this.

But the opinions of professionals and of people more knowledgeable than myself surely cannot be discounted.

Hi

JAVA TIPS AND TRICKS

Tips to make your program better
1. Don't make any class file larger than 1000 lines
2. Avoid Using Global Static function, if not possible then put that all function in a separate class.
3. Before starting the project Check out the proper decomposition of classes, interface and function. Practice of making structure then start coding.
e.g All Nouns is the probable candidate for classes and All Verbs are probable candidate for functions. User Interface wherever possible.
4. Always try to features given by java, don't try to write your own code if java provide such thing like StringBuffer, HashMap, ArrayList etc.
5. Always use the System properties handled by java for example. Don't use "\n" u can use
System.getProperty("line.separator");
6. Always Use Java coding convention(if you don't have company specified) and one popular IDE(eclipse/NETBeans etc) for programming.
7. Properly handle exception and their preferred treatment and if possible create a separate Exception Handling class where After Error message that thrown exception will be caught.
8. Avoid use of public data types for any class.

Thanks

As a gift this past Christmas, I received a digital camera (A1050 10.1 megapixel).

It's been working fine since then, but recently the batteries died. No biggie, I'm thinking, it's not a model that accepts rechargeable camera batteries, it's a AA model, which I usually have a good supply of, the only problem is no matter how many times I put new batteries in, the camera still said the battery was dead.

Upon research, I learned that instead of using standard alkaline batteries, that digital cameras should be using either lithium or ni-MH batteries, since they have more power and to meet the standards of digital cameras. I went to Walmart, and while they didn't have lithium batteries, they DID have ni-MH batteries specifically for digital cameras, so I purchased a pack, and tried them in my camera... and once again, it STILL said that the battery is dead.

So what's up?!

Hey guys,

I just had "Windows Vista, Home Premium, 64 BIT", installed and it showed all 4 GB ram available.

I just installed a fresh copy of "Windows 7, Ultimate, 64 bit", and my motherboard, an ASROCK G31M-S supports 8 GB ram, but its still showing only 3 - 3.19 GB available when i right-click on the "My Computer" then i click on "Properties".

I "Enabled" the "Memory Remap" option in the BIOS and nothing has changed.

CPU-Z recognizes the 4 GB of RAM, and so does Windows in the "System Information", but it only allows 3 bloody GB!!!

Someone please help...

Thanks...

This is a compact table top unit which is ideal for cooking entire meals faster than a conventional oven and using less power. How do they manage to do that you may well wonder and hopefully, in the course of this review, I will be able to explain it to you. Try to forget about those awful JML adverts for a moment - they may well irritate.
The JML Halogen Oven is basically a huge glass container with a heating element built into the lid. It also has a powerful fan that distributes heat quickly and evenly throughout the oven. It comes complete with two removable cooking racks so that any fat produced simply drains away, making meat products healthier than with some other cooking methods.
